Description
Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung condition that affects the airways. It is a serious and often debilitating condition that makes it harder for people to breathe and fight off lung infections.
Normal function of the lungs is disrupted, leading to a build-up of mucus that is difficult to clear. Over time, this cycle of infection and damage worsens, making the airways even more prone to problems.
Current treatment often includes antibiotics, therapies to clear mucus, or anti-inflammatory medicines, but for many people this is not enough. However, there are no current treatments that address the underlying inflammation effectively.
